About the Campaign
Help Middlesex Hospital cancer patients alleviate painful symptoms due to treatments by covering the cost of massages, acupuncture, Reiki, reflexology and more! Middlesex Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine offers these therapies to make a tremendous difference in patient’s lives physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Middlesex Hospital cancer patients are offered three free integrative medicine sessions of their choice. However, insurance generally does not cover the costs of these sessions. That is why community donations make a huge difference.
Integrative medicine practitioners are certified or licensed in their respective therapies. The following are some of the services offered: Acupuncture, hypnotherapy, music therapy, Reiki, reflexology and therapeutic gentle massage.
Here is what patients are saying about the Integrative Medicine Program:
“I experienced pain and numbness in my hands and feet as a result of chemotherapy. I was referred for acupuncture therapy at Middlesex Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine. After weekly treatments, I noticed a tremendous change. Today, my neuropathy is all gone. It is a big relief.”
“The nurse navigator suggested that I experience massage or reflexology. I started going once a week and continue to go today. Integrative medicine therapies are such a great addition to typical treatment. The support is beyond anything you can imagine.”
“I went for a massage or reflexology session before every chemo treatment and surgery to help myself relax and to find some ‘me’ time amongst my busy schedule. I actually started with these services not too long after my diagnosis as a way to help try and ease my anxiety and worry, even if it was only for an hour. The staff is wonderful and welcoming and invested in their patients’ well-being. These services helped me find some peace during a very hectic period of time and allowed me to focus on myself.”
